"Once you have slept on an island, nothing is ever the same."
SARAH ORNE JEWETT

Artistic & architectural, deluxe, stone masterpiece on the beach, the Beach Villa is for everyone who has ever dreamed of the ultimate island experience. Visitors to Saint John marvel at the beauty of the world renowned beaches, but very few of them are able to sleep within sight and sound of the water. The Beach Villa, located just steps from the Caribbean Sea, is now available for the fortunate few and is perfect for groups of couples, family gatherings & reunions and wedding events.
The Beach Villa is St. John's premier luxury villa unmatched and offering no compromises.

The Villa is five minutes to the village for fine dining, unique shopping, dive shops and gourmet grocery and ten minutes to the best-in-world, spectacular, north shore National Park Beaches.

greatroom.jpg (207440 bytes) Donald and Deborah Schnell have brought the experiences from over twenty years of living on Saint John and hosting guests in their other villas to the creation and decoration of the Beach Villa. This is a very personal endeavor and this new villa incorporates all the features you "wish" other villas offered. All the sliding glass doors pocketing opening unobstructed to the lush tropical gardens to all the king size master bedroom suites being equally grand so no one is short changed. The hand of the artist is evident everywhere in the numerous details. The Schnell's three children also contributed to bringing the villa to life.

Orchids and bougainvillea of every color bloom extravagantly. The beauty of the flowers is complemented by a sculpture garden and a little tropical fish pond governed by Morgan the turtle. The sound of wind chimes floats on the breeze. Works of art from the Schnell's own collection and from the Donald Schnell Studio at Mongoose Junction are throughout the villa.

Inside the spacious villa, the great room is sprinkled with whimsical modern touches, (You'll want to take the giraffe home with you , but he is a permanent resident.) Open to sea breezes in three sides, the great room can be easily secured by closing the sliding glass doors if you wish to use the air conditioning. For entertainment, there is a CD player, cable television, a VCR and a piano procured for a famous musician who was a previous guest.

The two story guest pavilion adjoins the main villa with two additional master bedroom suites. Each suite has its own balcony, and a separate entrance from the outside. A water view from every bedroom, and a tropical color theme make each room distinctive.

Every suite has its own bathroom with a Caribbean shower featuring colorful ceramic tiles and original Donald Schnell lighting fixtures. Several showers are outdoors and are created  of island stone. Small touches like the French enamel towel racks and hand painted tile basins reflect the love and care that went into the design of this villa.
Air conditioning is an option in every room for those who desire it offering every room individual control. Complete linens are furnished, a fully equipped kitchen and a washer and dryer are provided for your convenience. Beach towels, beach chairs and coolers are also available. Purple bougainvillea bloom year round and arch across the Villa's entry way.

The focal point of the courtyard is the swimming pool with exquisite tropical plantings, and a center island with its own palm tree. Colorful tiles surround the pool and patio area and a tiled powder room completes the pool appointments.

The Beach Villa's ten person island stone hot tub (not shown on the floor plan). Now VCR/Cable TV in all five King size master bedroom suites and wDSL internet access.

Dream away your days in the beach side hammocks or watch the "happy lights" from Donald Schnell's Studio cast their golden glow on the water as night falls. This is island living as you have always imagined it could be.

Some larger groups with elderly guests, many children or infants appreciate a private water taxi instead of the public ferry if cost is not an issue. The main advantage is that the water taxi leaves as soon as you are ready and is a little more sedate. Nearly everyone visiting St. John takes the public ferry for $5/per person, but if you desire a little extra comfort and ease the water taxi is available for $20/per person. Just let us know if you would like us to reserve one for you.

A chef is also extremely popular for that first night for larger groups. Most travelers arrive in St. Thomas in the afternoon and will be settling into the Villa between 4 p.m and 7 p.m. Our guest really enjoy having a chef already at the Villa putting the finishing touches on a meal you have selected to be served after freshening up or  a dip in the pool. A follow up breakfast or brunch the following morning is also very nice and an excellent way to start your first full day on the island. A chef can work with you on the menu before your arrival. He can also provide you with some basic food items for your refrigerator at the same time. Again, just let us know. Or contact them directly on their websites. Shay, Matayhoum, Kati & Laura.
